I’ve partnered with iHerb to share 3 of my favorite DIY beauty treatments featuring Nature’s Way Beet Root Powder, Turmeric Powder, and Vitamin C Powder! Thank you for supporting my sponsors!
Making your own DIY beauty treatments doesn’t have to be boring – in fact, it can quite fun and fulfilling if you’re willing to try new ways to use common ingredients.
I have always been one to experiment, so when I got the chance to play around with a few new ingredients from Nature’s Way, I decided to dive right in and make a few recipes I’ve never tried before.
And guess what? They’re a delight to use!
3 DIY Beauty Treatments Featuring Beetroot, Turmeric, and Vitamin C
I’ve used Nature’s Way products for almost 8 years now, and I haven’t looked back since. The quality of their products has always been steadfast and consistent, not to mention they offer over 400 different products ranging from probiotics and herbs to vitamins and minerals and coconut oil, you name it, they’ve got it.
Recently I got my hands on their beet root powder, turmeric powder, and vitamin C powder and I’m thrilled to share with you three of my favorite DIY beauty treatments featuring these high-quality ingredients.
I know you’ll enjoy them as much as I do!
You’ve Got Food on Your Face! - 3 DIY Beauty Treatments Using Beet Root, Turmeric, and Vitamin C Powder
What I love about these powders is their vibrant color! The turmeric and beet powders have such vivid jewel tones that you can literally see the care Nature’s Way takes when sourcing their products - from the places where these ingredients thrive best. It is in these indigenous regions where generations of cultivators have preserved their practices over time, ensuring the purest and highest quality botanicals possible.
This is why I have used Nature’s Way for so long. I know that when I use these ingredients, I’m getting purity, potency, and quality without the fillers and unnecessary ingredients other brands tend to use.
When I use Nature’s Way, I know exactly what I’m getting.
So, are you interested to see what I’ve concocted with these ingredients? Let’s get into the recipes!
Beauty Treatment #1 - Turmeric Powder and Coconut Oil Teeth Whitening Paste
I know it might sound crazy to brush your teeth with turmeric because hey, this stuff is known to stain everything bright yellow, so why not your teeth, but hear me out on this one!
As crazy as it may sound, turmeric has the mysterious ability to whiten and brighten teeth. No one knows why, but it does! I’m assuming it’s because of its slightly abrasive qualities, but that’s my best guess.
I any case, it works!
To make your own turmeric teeth whitening paste, you will need:
• 1 teaspoon of Nature’s Way Turmeric Powder
• 1 teaspoon Nature’s Way Coconut Oil
• 1 drop of peppermint essential oil for flavor
Thoroughly mix the ingredients together to form a thick paste. Add more turmeric powder to thicken it if needed.
Once mixed, put a dollop of turmeric paste on your toothbrush and brush for two minutes, focusing on areas with discoloration.
Rinse as usual and voila! Surprisingly whiter teeth.
Repeat once daily for up to one week, then once a week thereafter to maintain whiteness.
This recipe has become my new go-to teeth whitening treatment because it contains no harmful chemicals, helps reduce inflammation in the gums, keeps my teeth white, and does so without any of the tooth sensitivity I get when using whitening strips.
Of course, everyone’s results will vary, and it may take a bit more time before you see any drastic results, but I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
***I want to mention that this WILL stain your toothbrush yellow, so if that bothers you, maybe use a separate toothbrush that you reserve just for using this whitening treatment.
At any rate, I think the benefits will far outweigh any worry over a permanently yellow toothbrush.
Beauty Treatment #2 - Purifying Vitamin C Clay Mask
Our next DIY beauty treatment features one of my favorite skincare ingredients – Vitamin C Powder.
In case you didn’t know, vitamin c powder is one of the most powerful antioxidants you can use on your skin to help diminish the signs of aging and help maintain youthful skin.
Using the powder on your skin in a homemade mask can help target the appearance of uneven skin tone and dullness while fighting fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation with consistent use.
I like adding Nature’s Way Vitamin C Powder to facial clay in order to hold high concentrations of vitamin C close to the skin before rinsing the mask away.
You can also mix it into some raw honey for a more moisturizing face mask if you have dry skin.
For good measure, I encourage you to make a vitamin C drink to enjoy while sporting your mask to help support beauty from within as well.
You can do this by mixing 1 teaspoon of Nature’s Way Vitamin C Powder in 8 oz of water. Add a bit of raw honey for sweetness and enjoy some pure food-based vitamin C from acerola, kiwi, goji berry, and amla fruit.
To make the vitamin C clay mask, you will need:
• 1 TB Moroccan Red Clay
• ¼ teaspoon Nature’s Way Vitamin C Powder
• Enough water to make a spreadable mask that isn’t runny (you can also sub raw honey or aloe vera gel if desired)
Mix the ingredients until well combined then use either your fingers or a fan brush to apply it in an even layer to the entire face. Let the mask dry completely before rinsing.
I like to allow the mask to stay on the face for a good 20-25 minutes so that it has a chance to work its magic and brighten the skin while the Moroccan clay pulls impurities from the pores and soaks up excess oils.
You may experience a tingling sensation when using this mask due to the effects of vitamin C. If the sensation is too intense, rinse the mask thoroughly and use less vitamin C powder in your next mask recipe until you find a concentration that is suited to your unique skin.
I love that this vitamin C powder it 100% fruit sourced, which means it’s gentler for sensitive skin types and doesn’t leave you looking red and blotchy.
Beauty Treatment #3 - Pink Citrus Bath Bombs
This is my favorite recipe of the three since it’s different than the standard lip stain, cheek tint, and similar cosmetic recipes you can find online featuring beet root powder.
To make things interesting, I opted for a fun and fizzy bath bomb recipe that’s both luxurious and satisfyingly feminine to use. And the best part? Your skin can reap the beautifying benefits of beets while you relax in the tub.
To make these delightfully pink bath bombs, you will need:
• 1 cup baking soda
• ½ cup citric acid
• ½ cup epsom salt
• 3 teaspoon Nature’s Way Beet Root Powder
• 20 drops tangerine essential oil
• 20 drops grapefruit essential oil
• A small spritzer bottle filled with witch hazel
• Bath bomb molds (I used a ¼ cup measuring cup)
This recipe will make five ¼ cup sized bath bombs.
1. Begin by thoroughly mixing the baking soda, citric acid, epsom salt, and beet root powder until well combined.
2. Next add the essential oils by dripping them randomly over the dry ingredients, then mix well, making sure there are no lumps.
3. Once the essential oils are added it’s time to lightly mist the mixture with the witch hazel. Do this very sparingly since you don’t want the bath bombs to react. I suggest adding a few sprays of witch hazel then stir the bath bomb mixture very thoroughly between each spray. Try to mold some of the mixture in the palm of your hand to see when it just starts to hold its shape without crumbling.
4. Once you reach that point, it’s time to press the mixture into molds. I used a simple ¼ cup measuring cup to make mine, but you can use fancier molds if desired.
5. Place the finished bath bombs on a plate or baking tray to dry overnight away from all sources of humidity. They’re ready for storage once they are completely hardened.
6. At this point, you can wrap the bath bombs in cellophane or store them in pretty jars for future use.
To Use
Begin by filling your bath and adding whatever other bath products you like. I typically use some bubble bath and a little extra epsom salt.
Once the bath is filled, drop 1-2 pink citrus bath bombs into the tub and watch them fizz! These bombs have a beautiful pink froth that turns your bath a beautiful rosy color once dissolved, and they smell just like sparkling, fresh squeezed citrus.
