Keeping my skin healthy, supple and radiant is always at the top of my facial care to-do list. Every morning and night I follow a set routine to keep the ever feared premature aging at bay!
Now that I’m in my late twenties, it’s more important than ever to have a tried and true serum on hand to smooth out existing fine lines, prevent new ones from forming, and to keep my skin as elastic as possible.
One of my favorite serum recipes includes the use of some pretty amazing essential oils that help balance and regenerate the skin while also protecting it from the signs of aging.
Rejuvenating Rosehip Facial Serum
Serums are wonderful for the skin because they nourish the skin at a deep cellular level. The recipe I’m about to share with you is rich and healing, perfect for dry, irritated, damaged skin. The oils used are known to prevent and smooth out wrinkles, scar tissue, and stretch marks with consistent use….and believe me, you’re going to WANT to use this serum every day!
Here’s what you’ll need:
• ½ oz Rosehip Seed Oil
• ½ oz Jojoba Oil
• ¼ teaspoon Pure Vitamin E Oil
• 10 drops Lavender essential oil
• 3 drops Helichrysum essential oil
• 2 drops Carrot Seed essential oil (this is a must!)
• 1 oz cobalt blue or amber-colored dropper bottle
Loving Preparation - Rejuvenating Rosehip Facial Serum
• Add the essential oils to the dropper bottle first
• Then add the Vitamin E Oil
• Next, add the rosehip and jojoba oil to the bottle
• Cap tightly and ROLL the bottle in your hands to mix (you don’t want to shake the bottle because air bubbles can create rancidity)
• Use daily for best results!

Why These Ingredients Work
Rosehip Seed Oil
High in linoleic and linolenic acids, Vitamin C, and Vitamin A, Rosehip Seed Oil is one of the best rejuvenators for the skin and has been found to regenerate tissue and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, scars, age spots, sun damage, and stretch marks. Rosehip seed oil also helps prevent premature aging and is deeply moisturizing without feeling oily.
Jojoba Oil
This facial oil is well tolerated by most skin types, even for acne-prone and sensitive skin, and is wonderful to use in serum recipes. Jojoba Oil also doesn’t clog your pores and moisturizes well. You can switch out these oils with whichever oils suit your skin type best.

Vitamin E Oil
Known for its ability to improve the texture of the skin, Pure Vitamin E Oil also boasts a number of other benefits like:
• Anti-aging
• Treats hyperpigmentation
• Deeply moisturizes
• Reduces scar tissue
Lavender Essential Oil
One of my favorite essential oils, Lavender is calming and soothing not only to the skin but also for your senses. It is great for reducing redness, inflammation, and the healing of cuts, scrapes, and scars.
Helichrysum Essential Oil
You can just call this oil rejuvenation in a bottle! Helichrysum, aka Immortel and Everlasting, is known for its restorative properties and near impeccable defense against harmful free radicals. It’s also very calming and soothing for the skin.
Carrot Seed Essential Oil-
One of the best oils anyone can use for rashes, hyperpigmentation, and other discolorations is carrot seed essential oil. Its aroma also instills a sense of calm so it's really good for anxiety and stress.

Hi thank you for sharing your recipe! I’m so excited to try it out! I noticed that you said to get the 1oz glass dropper bottle, however the ingredients are a little over 1oz. Will all the ingredients for this recipe fit in the 1oz dropper or do you recommend using a 2oz dropper?
Tash says
You can use make it into a 2 oz bottle if you like 🙂 I would add the vitamin e, then the essential oils, and then just fill half and half with the carrier oils to get it into a 1 oz bottle.

hi tash, what about older people? i mean,a woman in her 50-60,with very flaccid skin.what mixture do you recommend?
thank you.
Tash says
Hi Maria!
I think it can help to a small degree due to its natural vitamin C content. You may want to look into a more pure form of vitamin C to add to your skincare routine. It helps boost collagen in the skin 🙂
DavetteB says
Which Helichrysum are you using?
Gymnocephalum, Italicum, or Splendidum?
Also, any substitutions for the lavender?
It gives me headaches.
Thanks
Tash says
Hi Davette!
I'm using the italicum version 🙂 You can sub chamomile (either one) for the lavender as well.

Hi Tash,
Love your website, there's so much great info here! I had a question about this preparation - the Rosehip oil you link to already has Vitamin E in it. Should we use additional Vitamin E oil? Also, can I add tea tree oil to this and if yes, how much?
Thanks!
Akshaya
Tash says
Hello again Akshaya!
The rosehip oil I linked to contains enough vitamin E oil to keep the oil from spoiling too fast. Most natural skin care products contain trace amounts of vitamin E oil for this reason 🙂 I add vitamin E oil to this serum to give it a more moisturizing quality ALONG with the preservation benefits, but you certainly don't need to for this recipe to be amazing. Hope this helps!
Akshaya says
Thanks for your reply! Does it help to store all essential oils in the fridge to keep from spoiling too fast? How long do oils typically last?
Tash says
No need to refrigerate essential oils 🙂 They will keep on their own for up to 10 years as long as you store them tightly capped, in a cool dark place. Of course, some last longer than others, but generally you can get several years out of them.

Thanks for this great recipe! Would you mind sharing the skin care regimen you follow morning and night?
Tash says
Hi Abbie!
I'm really happy that you like the recipe =) In the mornings and evenings I tend to splash my face with warm water and then oil cleanse. After I wipe off the oil, I will then spritz my face with rose water and then massage a few drops of rosehip oil into my skin. I do this morning and night and it feels GREAT! My skin loves it!

Is this mixture ok to use while pregnant? I saw somewhere that carrot seed oil is high in vitamin A and therefore not good to use while pregnant. Is rosehip seed oil the same?
Tash says
Hi Jessie!
Unfortunately it is not recommended to use carrot seed oil while pregnant or nursing. Rosehip seed oil is just find though since it is NOT an essential oil. Hope this helps!
