Diffuser Blends for Christmas

Diffuser Blends for Christmas

Diffusing essential oils is a really fun way to bring the natural aromas of your favorite holiday treats, outdoorsy scenes, and cozy winter cheer into your home for the holidays. It's tempting to buy scented candles this time of year, but let's face it, they're overly expensive and often filled with toxic synthetic fragrances. Diffusing pure high-quality essential oils allows you to experience full-bodied seasonal scents without harmful ingredients.

Winter is one of my favorite seasons because you get to make some really nostalgic diffuser blends. I hope these simple recipes inspire you to create your own fun recipes to diffuse throughout your home!

Choosing The Diffuser

First things first is the diffuser! I really like this one for simple bedroom use and this one for the living area. There are many different diffusers ranging from elegant to modern and simple to really fancy. Find the one you like and get it, you won't regret having this amazing tool in your home!

The next thing is to make sure to use distilled water in your diffuser even if the instructions say you can use tap water. The bottom line is tap water WILL clog your diffuser, even spring water will clog it eventually. Distilled water is completely free of minerals and is perfect for diffusing essential oils. If you're going to invest in a diffuser you want it to last as long as possible right? Buying a gallon of distilled water at the grocery store is really cheap AND you won't be diffusing yucky tap water into the air.

Diffuser Blends for Christmas

These are a few fun blends that will entice your senses and make your family and friends wonder why your house smells so amazing! Feel free to experiment and get inspired to make your own season blends.

Sparkling Candy Cane

This blend is wonderfully sweet (though not overly so) and very reminiscent of Christmas candy canes because of the peppermint essential oil. The vanilla gives this blend a subtle warmth and sweetness that really brings it together. I love diffusing this while sipping homemade hot chocolate!

Add to your diffuser:

• Distilled water
• 8 drops peppermint essential oil
• 2 drops vanilla essential oil

Mulled Cider

This is a great blend to diffuse while snuggled up near the fire with a good book and a hot mug of cider. The citrusy notes make this blend bright and inviting for any holiday occasion.

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops orange essential oil
• 2 drops nutmeg essential oil
• 1 drop cinnamon bark essential oil (not cinnamon leaf which smells different)
• 1 drop of clove essential oil

Spiced Cider

This blend has a spicier note compared to the mulled cider blend, hence the name. The ginger and cinnamon essential oils bring warmth while the orange sweetens the recipe.

Add to your diffuser:

• Distilled water
• 4 drops orange essential oil
• 3 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 3 drops ginger essential oil

Pumpkin Pie

Who doesn't love the scent of freshly baked pumpkin pie? This blend fills your home with a delicious fragrance that will make guests wonder what smells so amazing! It's a perfect Christmas scent that gets everyone into Christmas cheer.

Add to your diffuser:

• Distilled water
• 2 drops cardamom essential oil
• 2 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 3 drops nutmeg essential oil
• 2 drops ginger essential oil
• 1 drop vanilla essential oil

Snickerdoodle Cookie

The smell of freshly baked cookies is intoxicating and what's great about this recipe is you don't have to be baking in order to enjoy it for endless hours. This blend seriously smells JUST like snickerdoodle cookies and is one of my favorite diffuser blends for Christmas right now.

Add to your diffuser:

• Distilled water
• 5 drops orange essential oil
• 2 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 1 drop clove essential oil

Winter Wonderland

This blend reminds me of silent walks through snow surrounded by evergreens. If you love the smell of pine then this is a perfect blend to diffuse. My husband LOVES this blend before bedtime because he can imagine being out in the wilderness. I find that most men really like this recipe.

Add to your diffuser:

• 3 drops balsam fir essential oil
• 2 drops spruce essential oil
• 2 drops cedarwood essential oil
• 2 drops peppermint essential oil
• 1 drop juniper essential oil

Christmas Tree

This is another blend that reminds you of evergreens and smells just like your Christmas tree! It's perfect to diffuse while opening gifts on Christmas morning.

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops balsam fir essential oil
• 3 drops cedarwood essential oil
• 4 drops pine essential oil

Holy Night

This blend is nice to enjoy the night before Christmas when family is gathered and there's a crackling fire to enjoy. Definitely one of my favorites this year.

Add to your diffuser:

• 3 drops balsam fir essential oil
• 3 drops peppermint essential oil
• 2 drops frankincense essential oil
• 2 drops myrrh essential oil

Christmas Carol

It isn't often that you find a high-quality cocoa essential oil, but I did! This blend is really lovely and reminds me of drinking hot chocolate while caroling or eating peppermint patties.

Add to your diffuser:

• 5 drops peppermint essential oil
• 2 drops cocoa absolute
• 2 drops balsam fir essential oil
• 1 drop vanilla essential oil

Walk in the Woods

This blend has a very fresh forest-y scent that the man in your life will love! It's woodsy, earthy, and bright.

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops balsam fir essential oil
• 3 drops eucalyptus essential oil
• 2 drops juniper essential oil
• 2 drops cedarwood essential oil
• 1 drop frankincense essential oil

Gingerbread Man

This blend is really yummy smelling and uses an essential oil blend called Stress Away by Young Living. To get this blend, go here. This recipe goes well while sipping a gingerbread shake 🙂

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops Stress Away essential oil blend
• 3 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 2 drops ginger essential oil
• 2 drops clove essential oil

Three Wise Men

A great diffuser blend for Christmas morning that everyone will enjoy! I love the sweetness of Stress Away and the earthiness of frankincense and myrrh.

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops Stress Away essential oil blend
• 3 drops frankincense essential oil
• 3 drops myrrh essential oil

Santa's Cookies

No time to bake cookies for Santa? Defuse this blend instead, Santa will still appreciate it 

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops cinnamon bark essential oil
• 3 drops peppermint essential oil
• 3 drops lemon essential oil

Joy to the World

Spread Christmas cheer and joyful emotions by diffusing this handy blend. Not only good for enticing guests and lifting the senses but also great for when you feel bedraggled during the holiday mayhem.

Add to your diffuser:

• 5 drops Joy essential oil blend
• 5 drops of sweet orange essential oil

Evergreen Wreath

This is one of my favorite blends because I just love the smell of everything evergreen! A Christmas tree in a bottle that offers a snapshot of scent that transports you to distant winter woodlands.

Add to your diffuser:

• 4 drops balsam fir essential oil
• 3 drops spruce essential oil
• 3 drops pine essential oil

I really like these blends you created, but I'm trying to stay away from anything I have to plug in. What would be the ratios for a reed diffuser? And which carrier oil do you think would be the best for that?
