I’ve partnered with iHerb to share how I use Aura Cacia for everyday essentials and wellness support featuring their amazing essential oils and some of my favorite products that make staying healthy a breeze. Thank you so much for supporting my sponsors!
Achieving vibrant health and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can seem a bit daunting, but with the right products in your arsenal, it’s easy to whip up recipes that are quick, simple, and effective.
Aura Cacia has been one of my favorite brands for supporting physical, mental, and emotional health for the past six years. Their essential oils, skin care oils, and mists are made from simple and pure sustainably sourced ingredients that help improve overall well-being both inside and out. They are also one of the few essential oil companies that test every essential oil to verify their quality and purity.
Needless to say, they make good stuff!
How I Support Everyday Wellness with Aura Cacia
The great thing about essential oils is they can be used for so many things, and today, I’m going to share some of my staple recipes using Aura Cacia products that take part in my everyday wellness routine.
Stress
A three-page long to-do list, a high-speed workplace, multiple social obligations, and non-stop family responsibilities are just a few things that make up our busy daily lives it’s no wonder many of us feel stressed and burnt out.
The modern hustle has us running from one thing to the next making it easy to put stress-relieving practices on the back burner.
This is one of the worst things you can do if you’re trying to lead a healthy lifestyle. Stress will inevitably break you down and cause your health to decline.
How do we mitigate this? By following through with giving ourselves downtime and implementing stress relieving rituals that help us shed that constant fight or flight response.
Your body needs quiet time every single day.
I do this by using one or more of the following recipes:
Stress Relieving Fizzing Foot Soak
Going to the spa is one of my favorite treats to give myself but when I don’t have the time or the money to spend on lavish treatments, I make this simple foot soak recipe. You’d be surprised how relaxing this is!
To make it, you will need:
- 4 TB baking soda
- 2 TB Epsom salts
- 2 TB citric acid
- 35 drops Tranquility Blend by Aura Cacia
Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and add the essential oil. Mix thoroughly and store in a 4 oz jar.
To use, simply add 1-2 TB of fizzing foot soak (or more as desired!) to 1 gallon of comfortably hot water in any container or tub that fits your feet. Soak for 15 minutes.
The essential oils in the Tranquility Blend are soothing, relaxing, and calming in nature. They help uplift emotions and instill a sense of positivity. Plus, soaking your feet is surprisingly relaxing and pleasant.
Bonus - this recipe also doubles as a fizzing bath powder!
Stress-Be-Gone Roll-On
If you need a quick fix for stress relief on the go, then the Chill Pill Blend is an effective and convenient way to reduce stress.
This handy little blend comes in an already-made roll-on that’s easy to carry with you in a purse or pocket for quick and easy use when out and about and stress hits you unaware.
The Chill Pill Blend contains sweet orange, peppermint, basil, lavender, patchouli, and chamomile which are known to clear the mind, uplift emotions, and dissipate frustration and negativity.
To use it, simply swipe the roll-on onto wrists, temples, or on the collar bone.
It's the perfect compact stress reliever!
Stress Reducing Diffuser Blend
Diffusers are one of my favorite ways to enjoy essential oils while puttering around the house or while working. Plus, they take hardly any time or effort to use.
This diffuser blend is perfect for times when you need a mental pick-me-up after a stressful day.
To make it, you will need:
- A Diffuser (I use the one by Aura Cacia)
- 3 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 drops lemon essential oil
- 1 drop peppermint essential oil
Add the oils to the diffuser and enjoy the calming qualities of lavender, cheerful lemon, and clarifying peppermint.
Diffuse as needed.
If you want to diffuse essential oils while in the car, I highly recommend the car diffuser by Aura Cacia. You can easily add a few drops of your favorite essential oil (I like lavender and lemon) and enjoy their stress-relieving benefits while driving. This is especially helpful when stuck in traffic!
Sleep
Sleep is one of the most important pillars of health. Without enough of it, wellness starts to decline at a rapid rate and we find ourselves getting sick more often, feeling fatigued, have frequent mood swings, or fight constant brain fog.
It’s also critical for memory retention, immune support, muscle recovery, and all of the tiny repairs, hormone transport, and chemical reactions the body needs to make while we rest at night.
To help support my body’s sleep cycle, I like to incorporate a few rituals before bed by alternating between the recipes below as needed.
Pillow Potion Diffuser Blend
This one is so easy to do that I almost never miss a night unless I’m traveling. This is one of the reasons why I love using a good essential oil diffuser, they’re just so convenient!
The blend Pillow Potion contains lavender, yarrow, sweet orange, hops CO2, and German chamomile which are calming, sedative, and relaxing to the senses before bed. The hops, in particular, is what induces restful sleep which I why I enjoy using this blend on a nightly basis.
To use Pillow Potion, simply add 5-8 drops of essential oil to a diffuser before getting in bed. I like to run the diffuser while reading and find myself nodding off within 15 minutes!
Sleepy-Time Pillow Spray
This pillow spray is really easy to make and brings relaxation to the next level when getting into bed. I actually use it on my bed linens as well to infuse my whole sleeping space with the fragrance of stress-relieving sleep-inducing essential oils.
To make the spray, all you need is:
- One 4 oz spray bottle
- Filtered water (do not use tap water)
- 20 drops Tranquility Blend by Aura Cacia
Add the oils to the spray bottle and fill it to the shoulder with filtered water. Shake well then spritz it evenly onto pillows and linen before getting into bed. Breathe deeply through the nose and out the mouth to release tension and stress.
The Tranquility Blend contains lavender, balsam fir, patchouli, palmarosa, geranium, and Roman chamomile which are known to relieve stress, ground unstable emotions, encourage positivity by reducing worry, and inducing restful sleep.
Chamomile Bubble Bath
For evenings when I have time, I like to soak in a hot bath filled with fragrant bubbles, have a good glass of wine, surround the bath with candles, and listen to relaxing music. It’s the ultimate way for me to just have a good 45 minutes to myself where I focus on self-care and relaxation.
Aura Cacia makes some really nice sudsy bubble bath, and lately, I’ve been enjoying the Tranquil Chamomile Bubble Bath. It’s so relaxing and offers a nice change from the lavender bubble bath I usually use. The scent of the chamomile lulls me into instant relaxation and has quickly become a staple in my bathing routine.
To use it, simply pour a thin drizzle of bubble bath over running bath water until you reach the desired level of bubbles. Agitate the water as you pour to really get things sudsy!
Soak for as long as you like!
Immunity Support
Giving our immune system the support it needs during cold and flu season, through stressful moments in our lives, or just day to day is a great way to ensure we stay strong and healthy even when we feel spread too thin.
When tough times call for desperate measures, I always reach for a few tried and true recipes that help stave off illness and support immunity.
Immunity-Boost Diffuser Blend
At the first sign of “feeling off” or if I’ve been around others who have a cold I use this diffuser blend in the house to help boost the immunity of my family.
Here’s what you need to make it:
- A diffuser (I use the one by Aura Cacia)
- 2 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil
- 2 drops eucalyptus essential oil
- 2 drops lemon essential oil
- 2 drops peppermint essential oil
These essential oils are potent germ fighters that also help the body increase its defenses.
The cinnamon leaf essential oil, in particular, is one of the strongest essential oils to use when it comes to keeping your home as cold and flu-free as possible.
Eucalyptus is a wonderful oil for respiratory support while lemon disinfects the air and peppermint freshens your living space.
Diffuse this blend 2-3 times daily throughout the home and especially in the room of those who have a cold.
Diffuse lemon for children.
All-Purpose Immune Support Cleaning Spray
This is another great recipe to use when you want to control the germs in your house during cold and flu season. I like to use it to spray down frequently touched areas like sinks, toilets, countertops, door knobs, light switches, and remotes to help lessen the chances of spreading germs.
To make it, you will need:
- One 16 oz spray bottle
- White vinegar
- Filtered water
- Fresh lemon peels (optional)
- 20 drops lemon essential oil
- 20 drops sweet orange essential oil
- 20 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil
- 20 drops peppermint essential oil
If you’re using the fresh lemon peels, fill a mason jar with the fresh peels (flesh removed) and cover them completely with white vinegar. Store in the fridge for 4 weeks, then strain out the peels.
This creates a delightful lemon-infused vinegar that ups this recipe’s cleaning and disinfecting power.
To make the spray, add ½ cup of white vinegar (or lemon infused vinegar) to the 16 oz spray bottle. Add the essential oils, then fill it to the shoulder with filtered water.
Shake well before use and spray onto surfaces you want to disinfect. Wipe away with a clean paper towel as you would with conventional all-purpose spray.
You can add a higher concentration of vinegar if desired.
Medieval Mix Roll-On
For times when you’re on the go and feel like you’ve been exposed to germs while traveling, at school, at work, or when visiting family and friends, Aura Cacia’s Medieval Mix is the perfect companion.
This little roll-on packs a serious punch when it comes to fighting germs and supporting immunity.
It contains sweet orange, lavender, lemon, thyme, tea tree, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils.
The thyme essential oil is known to be one of the most powerful antibacterial and antiviral essential oils while rosemary, tea tree, and eucalyptus support respiratory health and clarity.
Lemon and sweet orange are antioxidant, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory and lavender is the calming compliment that helps prevent our immune system from burning out.
To use Medieval Mix, simply apply to the bottoms of the feet when sick for an immunity boost, or apply it to the palms as a hand-sanitizer substitute. I like to cup my hands over my nose and mouth after doing this so I can breathe in the scent of the oils and reap their immune boosting benefits internally.
Self-Care
Self-care is one of those things people tend to skip because they “don’t have time” and I get that. It IS hard to devote enough time to yourself when life gets busy.
However, implementing a good self-care routine doesn’t have to be a super lengthy thing. It can simply be a moment where you give yourself at least 5 minutes a day to care for your skin, pack a healthy snack, or make sure you’re drinking enough water.
I personally really love to pamper myself, even if it’s just a quick application of body lotion, a face serum, or weekly face mask. These simple rituals don’t take up a lot of time and make me feel a little more human in the hustle and bustle of modern life.
Comforting Geranium Body Lotion
Aura Cacia makes some really nice body oils that hydrate and nourish the skin, but since I’m more of a lotion person, I decided to use their Comforting Geranium Body Oil as a base for a DIY moisturizer.
What I got was a light yet hydrating body lotion that’s infused with several different carrier oils and delicious smelling essential oils that protect and tone the skin without having to buy separate ingredients. This not only saves time but money as well!
To make the lotion, you will need:
- An accurate kitchen scale
- An emulsion blender
- A double boiler
- A mixing bowl
- One 4 oz jar
- 5 oz of distilled water
- 5 oz of Comforting Geranium body oil
- 0.2 oz of beeswax pastilles
Begin by melting the body oil and beeswax over very gentle heat in the double boiler (you don't want to heat the body oil for too long or it will lose the essential oils). As soon as everything is melted, pour the melted oil and beeswax into the mixing bowl and use the emulsion blender on the low setting to mix the melted ingredients as you slowly pour in the water.
Blend the mixture for a minute and then let the mixture cool for a few minutes. Blend again for a minute and then let it cool. Repeat this process as the ingredients cool completely until you reach a lotion consistency.
Add your preservative of choice, mix it in, then store the lotion in a 4 oz jar.
Apply the lotion after a shower as a lovely light moisturizer infused with lovely ingredients.
Sweet Orange and Lavender Salt Scrub
This recipe is one of my favorites to use while in the shower or while soaking in the bath. It hydrates the skin, smells divine, and also helps reveal a radiant glow when used as a body scrub.
To make it, you will need:
- One 4 oz jar
- ½ cup course dead sea salt
- ¼ cup sweet almond oil (or even one of Aura Cacia’s infused body oils)
- 10 drops sweet orange essential oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
Omit the essential oils if you use an infused body oil.
In a mixing bowl, add all of the ingredients and stir thoroughly to mix. Add more or less carrier oil as desired to reach a consistency you like. Store in a 4 oz shower-safe jar.
To use, scoop out the desired amount and use it to scrub the skin in gentle circular motions to reveal healthy vibrant skin.
Healthy Glow Rose Roll-On
Aura Cacia’s Rose Roll-On is one of my favorite quick and simple products to use when I want to care for my skin but need to rush out the door.
The scent is delightfully rosy; just like smelling a fresh rose in full bloom. I love to use this as a skin softening cuticle oil, on areas of dryness like knees and elbows, and as an effective skin plumper for fine lines.
And, as an added bonus, this roll-on also surrounds you with the therapeutic aroma of roses which is known to be calming, heart opening, and emotionally stabilizing.
Sandalwood Infused Clay Mask
One of my favorite self-care rituals is to whip up a skin-revitalizing clay mask that I can customize based on what my skin needs that day.
Lately, I have really been enjoying the anti-aging benefits of sandalwood. Its rich anti-oxidant content helps to protect the skin from damaging free-radicals. Sandalwood is also good for preventing acne and soothing dry skin.
Breathing in the scent of sandalwood is also known to promote a relaxed atmosphere and help encourage a meditative state.
So, as you can see, sandalwood is an amazing essential oil to use for self-care and relaxation!
To make a sandalwood infused clay mask, you will need:
- 1 TB facial clay (French green, rhassoul, or kaolin clays work well)
- 1 drop sandalwood essential oil
- Filtered water or floral water
Begin by adding small amounts of water to the clay, stirring after each addition, until you reach the desired consistency. Next, add one drop of sandalwood essential oil and stir to mix it in thoroughly.
Apply the mask in an even layer on the face and allow it to dry completely before rinsing.
Energy and Fitness
Keeping my energy levels in tip-top shape without relying on unhealthy stimulants is another way I support my health on a daily basis. For me, this means using Aura Cacia essential oils to help clarify the mind, increase physical performance, boost energy, and enhance recovery.
Fitness is a huge part of my wellness routine so it’s important that I support my body in a way that allows me to crush my fitness goals.
Below are a few recipes I like to implement depending on my needs that day.
Tea Tree and Lemon Yoga Mat Spray
One of my favorite methods for getting my body revved up and ready for the day ahead is by practicing yoga first thing in the morning.
The issue with this is that I’m not particularly a morning person. In order to mitigate the grogginess, I like to use different yoga mat sprays to help wake me up and clarify the mind.
Lately, I've been enjoying Aura Cacia’s Tea Tree and Lemon Yoga Mat Spray. Not only do the essential oils waken the senses, but they also help purify the space around you and allow for a better mind-body connection.
These sprays can be used on the body, on the yoga mat itself, and around the room to help amplify your yoga practice.
Energy-Up Diffuser Blend
I often do my workouts at home which gives me the luxury of diffusing essential oils while I exercise.
This is a fantastic way to boost energy, hone focus, and support confidence depending on the essential oils you diffuse.
One of my favorite diffuser blends consists of the following essential oils:
- 3 drops sweet orange essential oil
- 3 drops lemon essential oil
- 1 drop peppermint essential oil
- 1 drop lemongrass essential oil
Add the oils to your diffuser and enjoy the energy supportive properties of citrus, peppermint, and lemongrass.
These oils are known to be uplifting, energizing, and mentally stimulating so that you can push yourself to the next level. This blend is also great to use when you feel the tell-tale afternoon slump and need a mental pick-me-up.
Energizing Bath Salts
If you’re someone who enjoys a good soak post-workout then these bath salts are the ones for you!
The essential oils in this blend help soothe muscles, encourage healthy circulation, and energize the mind. The addition of Epsom salts amplifies post-workout recovery by supplying the body with muscle relaxing magnesium and other minerals.
To make your own energizing bath salts, you will need:
- 1 cup Epsom salts
- 2 TB sweet almond oil
- 10 drops sweet orange essential oil
- 10 drops lemon essential oil
- 5 drops peppermint essential oil
- 5 drops ginger essential oil
Mix the ingredients in a bowl and store in a glass jar in a cool dark place.
To use, simply sprinkle the desired amount of infused salt over running bath water.
Warming Balsam Fir Muscle Rub
One of the most important things you can do to support your fitness goals is to care for your joints and muscles post-workout. I know that when I intensify my workouts sore muscles are soon to follow!
For times like these, using a soothing muscle rub infused with healing essential oils is the perfect way to deflect inflammation, decrease discomfort, and improve recovery.
I like to accomplish this is by using a balsam fir muscle rub.
To make it, you will need:
- A double boiler
- A 2 oz jar or tin
- ¼ cup warming balsam fir body oil
- 1 TB beeswax
Melt the beeswax in the double boiler over gentle heat. Once melted slowly add the warming balsam fir body oil and stir to mix. As soon as everything is completely melted, pour the muscle rub into a 2 oz jar and allow it to solidify before capping.
To use, simply rub a small amount over achy joints and muscles to help alleviate pain, swelling, and general soreness.
